Tesia J. Walker

Tesia J. Walker is a writer/director originally hailing from New York City. She is a graduate of the Columbia University Film MFA Program, where she won Best Teleplay Pilot for her drama script, The Border, and received the Jesse Thompkins III Writing Fellowship. Her pilot is also featured on the Columbia Blue List (2016), which is a script competition judged by top agents, managers, writers, producers, directors, screenwriters, showrunners, and studio executives. Her most recent pilot, The Line, was the recipient of the Showtime Tony Cox Screenplay Competition in the one-hour drama division. 

Tesia's short film, Search Party, was the recipient of an HBO Production Grant and the recipient of the SimonSays Entertainment Award for Innovative Filmmaking (2016). The film also went on to win the Harlem Spotlight Award at the Harlem International Film Festival (2017). Search Party was a semifinalist in NBC Universal’s Shorts Fest (2016), and an official selection of four Academy Qualifying Film Festivals: Atlanta, Athens-Ohio, Bermuda and Urbanworld. Her most recent short film, In The Field, just wrapped and she is currently preparing to direct her first feature.

Tesia also enjoys teaching the art of filmmaking to others. While at Columbia, she helped to design a summer program for high school students interested in pursuing careers in the film industry.
